The Mazda Miata is one of the best sports cars for people who want an enjoyable yet reliable experience with their vehicle. This is also the case with the newer models.
However, the Mazda Miata is facing a few challenges so far in 2024 compared to 2023. Of course, sales of all vehicles go up and down, but the Miata is steeply down, but perhaps it isn’t cause for alarm just yet.
So far, 2024 hasn’t been kind to the Mazda Miata regarding sales of new models. According to GoodCarBadCar, there have only been 1,411 units sold of what many consider one of the best sports cars.
This is particularly bad because it means sales are down by 45.5 percent compared to this time in 2023 for the Miata. According to reports, the soft top version is suffering the most.
However, there is a positive here. Part of the reason for the decline in sales has to do with how much more popular the Mazda Miata became in 2023.
The iconic car experienced a 45.4 percent growth last year compared to 2022. This would have been difficult for any vehicle to match as prices continue to increase in the automotive market.
The Miata is still one of the best options for people who don’t want to spend BMW Z4 prices. However, it’s not as inexpensive as it once was, given that the price has grown so much over the years.
Sure, the 2024 Mazda Miata still starts under $30,000. However, this is still a significant amount to pay for a car that offers less space than other sports cars
The relatively high price of new models is another reason why someone may buy a slightly older version than a Mazda Miata from 2024 or even 2023.
Sales may be down for the first quarter of the year, but that doesn’t mean things can’t turn around, as the new model has much to offer both long-time Miata fans and people who have never owned one.
